Scientific Work
Established the Laboratory of Architectural Technology, School of Architecture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Accredited N17025/ESYD, Notified NB2326EU with test facilities for the CE certification of the thermal and sound insulation of building materials and products. He participated in over 100 research projects, funded by public and private institutions (the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Ministry of Culture and Education, the Ministry of Development, the General Secretariat of Research and Technology, the Ministry of Environment, the European Union and others). He contributed with over 220 papers published in international and Greek scientific journals or congresses’ proceedings and issued books, short publications, codes of practice, and numerous articles in magazines and newspapers.
Teaching Experience
Since 1989, as a Full Professor, he has taught Architectural Technology, Building Physics, Building Construction, Architectural Acoustics, Theatre Design and Acoustics, and Computer-Aided Design. He supervised many diploma and doctoral dissertations and gave lectures and presentations in Greece and elsewhere.
Administrative Positions
He served as President of the School of Architecture, as a member of the University Senate, a member of the Research Committee of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a member of the Computer Network Committee and the Telecommunications Committee of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He served as a member of the Administrative Committee of the University of Thessaly, a member of the Technical Board of the University of Thessaly, a member of the Council of the Science Center and Technology Museum of Thessaloniki, and as a member of European Union Committees (COST, Urban Civil Engineering, CREST OMC, Excellence of research in Universities). He is an Associate Member of the Acoustical Society of America, Member of the European Acoustics Association, and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
Professional Experience
He participated as a partner in technical companies’ operations (Applied Technology 1997, Runner 2001) and worked with well-known architects and designers (D. & S. Antonakakis, N. Andreadis, A. Berler, Ι. Despotopoulos, Ι. Fotiadis, L. Kalyvitis, Α. Kotsiopoulos, D. Naoumidis, Th. Papagiannis, M. Perrakis, D. & L. Potiropoulos, P. Tavaniotis, A. Tombazis, P. Tzonos, Ι. Ventourakis, Ι. Vikelas and others). He participated in the acoustical design of over 190 Theatres, Amphitheatres, Music Halls, Music Academies, Convention Centres, Cultural Centres, Museums, Recording Studios, Hotels, and Sports Centres, mainly in Athens, but also in other cities (Thessaloniki, Volos, Larissa, Veria, Ioannina, Patra, Kalamata, Xanthi, Komotini, Chania, Leykada, Mytilini, Limnos, Crete, Rhodes).
In cooperation with significant technical and construction companies (Elliniki Technodomiki SA, Themeliodomi SA, Avax SA, Ellinotechniki SA, Aktor SA, and others), he participated in large scale cultural projects (Lazaristes Theatre, Open Air Theatre, and Port Storage Building A in Thessaloniki, as well as the Athens Concert Hall, the Olympic International Broadcasting Centre IBC in Athens, the Science Center and Technology Museum of Thessaloniki, the Plovdiv Opera Hall, Bulgaria, and others).
He is presently a partner of MMT S.A. Architects – Consultants – Managers, a company specializing mainly in the design and construction of recreation and hospitality facilities. MMT S.A. has long time cooperation with Nimand Architects and Niki Andreadis in the design and construction of well known 5* hotels and resorts for the Sani/Ikos Group (Sani Asterias, Sani Beach, Sani Club, Porto Sani, Ikos Olivia, Ikos Oceania, Ikos Dassia, Ikos Aria, and the award-winning Sani Dunes).
