The renovation and upgrade of the Cultural Centre of Plovdiv is a project granted to Aktor SA – Aktor Bulgaria SA after an international competition. The project brief was to renovate the existing (1960) building, based on current European standards for cultural facilities. The building hosts a large opera hall, a foyer, a complete stage, two congress halls, an exhibition hall, a cinema, dancehalls, and a café. The 600 seats opera hall’s renovation included a geometrical and acoustical redesign, new stage and lighting installations, new wall sidings, light and sound control booths, etc. A Greek expert team with associates and partners with experience in high-standard technical projects designed the new Cultural Center. The Centre was designed to function with a multilevel automated parking facility built in the Plaza in front of the building.
MMT was the architect of the project and the coordinator of all other designs. MMT's contribution includes programming, architectural technology, construction details, room and building acoustics and permitting coordination.
